Common questions
Who is Postmello for?
Postmello is a quiet place for kids to write and send digital letters - handwritten, drawn, or typed - to friends and family. Every friend is approved before letters can be exchanged. It is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
How do I add or approve a friend?
Open the Admin Portal inside the app - the brass key on the desk - choose a desk, then Add friends. For someone on Postmello, share the desk’s connect code or enter theirs; the adult on the other side approves. For someone who isn’t, add their email address. Either way, no one reaches a desk unless the adult looking after it approved them.
Can someone write to a desk without using Postmello?
Yes. Add their email address as an approved friend. They can receive Postmello letters and write to the desk from their regular inbox. Email also works for someone who has Postmello but prefers to use their inbox at that moment.
What if a friend I added by email gets Postmello?
Have them sign up with the same email address. Every letter you’ve sent is already waiting on their desk, and your letters keep going to them like always. If they sign up with a different address, they can enter your desk’s connect code; when you approve it, the app asks whether this is the person you’ve been writing to by email.
Can my child write to someone who hasn’t been approved?
No. Letters travel only between approved friends, and that rule is enforced by our server as a letter is sent rather than only by the interface - so unapproved mail, incoming or outgoing, cannot be created. There is also no way for a stranger to find or write to a child. Safety by design explains the whole picture.
How do I delete my account?
Open the Admin Portal, go to Settings and choose Delete Account. The account is scheduled for deletion 30 days later; to stop it, sign back in and choose Keep My Account in Settings before the 30 days are up. Letters you have already sent stay with the people who received them, the same way a posted letter does. If you need a letter removed from other people’s mailboxes as well, write to us - we can do that, and we will where the law requires it. See our Privacy Policy for details on what we store and what deletion removes.
I found a bug or have a suggestion.
Wonderful - please tell us at [email protected]. Feedback from early testers shapes what we build next.
